Austin was born and raised in Baltimore, MD but has lived in Colorado for the past 23 years. He has a B.A. in Outdoor Education from Prescott College and has worked for the City of Aspen for over 19 years. He is an avid rock climber and mountaineer as well as a Nordic enthusiast. Austin and his wife Rebecca have two very talented young AVSC Nordic skiers that call our Nordic trails home.
During Austin’s 19 years, he has held the titles of: Trails Manager, Open Space and Natural Resources Manager, Parks and Open Space Director, and our Parks & Recreation Director as of 2020.
Austin has a deep passion for our valley, city, and community. Through his leadership our team of Parks & Recreation staff are able to provide our citizens & guests with world class amenities, activities and services year round.
